One More Piece On Bob Hislop

Again, I’m just putting the information out there. There is a big group of emails and identifications of good agents both active and retired that have been blackened out. The intention is to keep these people safe and anonymous.

This particular email was circulated through AFAUSSS, OldStar and to all the members. I received it trough a source that believed Bob was in violation of not only AFAUSSS’s own governing bylaws, but ethics violations as well as potential Federal or State laws. By the time this email got to me it had been forward multiple times.

When you’re done with that here’s some more information for you:

Doug Fabel Treasurer of AFAUSSS and the Foundation during Bob Hislop’s presidency also found to be a board member under Mcleod’s Federal Employees Benefit Group.  See links below!

Douglas County Coroner’s Office: The Corrupt Money Pit?

I’m still convinced that there’s something going on with the Douglas County’s Corner’s office. Let’s see what we can unearth here tonight.

I asked in an earlier post, why are the expenses of Douglas County’s Coroner’s Office so much more out of whack than that of other counties here in Colorado? I asked Candidate Lora Thomas this:

6) How will you keep the budget balanced?  With a rising case load in that department, how will this affect your budget plans?  How would you be able to work with the current case load with the small budget that office runs on?

Take a look at this comparison chart:

County Total Cases Annual Budget Investigators Cost/Case
Jefferson 3515 $1,434,276 $408.00
Arapahoe 2352 $1,531,466 7 Full-time $651.00
Denver 2519 $2,100,000 $833.00
Elbert 65 $78,955 $1,214.00
Douglas 756 $1,282,473 6 Full-time + the Assistant Chief Coroner $1,696.00

This comparison of other coroner offices in the metropolitan area indicates that opportunities are available to cut costs.  Why is the Cost per Case in Douglas County 4 times the cost in Jefferson County?  How does Arapahoe County manage a caseload 3 times that of Douglas County with only 1 more Investigator?

My broad and objective experience includes scheduling troopers for 24/7 coverage and balancing several different budgets.  I have direct experience balancing case loads and budgets without reducing service to the taxpayer.  I have prepared budget forecasts, and planned for various changes in both revenue and workload in the past.  I have the unique ability and experiences to address the different scenarios I could possibly face in the Coroner’s Office.

Since this article posted Thomas has done more homework on the Douglas County Coroner’s office. I’ll let the reports she received speak for themselves, but I have one observation before we look at these. Why is this information not readily available, why is it not on the Douglas County’s website? Shouldn’t this information be really easy to get?

On Lora Thomas’ own website, she posted these stats. They are wrong.

Now this cart might be wrong, but it’s wrong because her assumption were based on inaccurate data provided by the Coroner’s Office.

This is from the last email from Mrs. Thomas.

What this means is that the 2008 Annual Report that the Coroner’s Office published is wrong.  153 autopsies were not paid for by Douglas County taxpayers – only 124 were.  That means that the graphs on my website http://thomasforcoroner.com/chart2.gif  are wrong.  Instead of $8382 per autopsy in Douglas County, the number is $10,342.52.

I included this to show that Mrs. Thomas really is concerned about the current state of the Coroner’s Office. I’m convinced she’s not on a witch hunt as some have told me. You see a real law enforcement officer or death investigator for that matter, asks the right questions, and doesn’t stop until the questions are answered, no matter the outcome.

I’ve asked myself many times, why would Lora want to unearth any discrepancies while on the campaign trail, for the exact office she intends to occupy? Why would she create tension with the very people she’ll work with once she takes office. She won’t be able to fire everyone, she’ll have to hire a whole new staff and train them? Would it be better to run a nice Reagan’s 11th amendment type campaign?

What I’ve come up with is she actually cares. That Lora Thomas is concerned about potential corruption, or at least severe mismanagement of the Douglas County Tax dollars.

Want some more?

I have a letter that Thomas sent to Wes Riber, the current coroner:

RE:  Public Records Request

Dear Mr. Riber,

I am in receipt of an answer to my May 20, 2010 request for information on autopsies.  Thank you.

The response from Patricia Dunn indicated that there were 124 autopsies performed by Drs. Galloway, Dobersen and Lear-Kaul.  Your 2008 Annual Report indicates that 153 autopsies were performed that year.

This request concerns the remaining 29 autopsies:

  • What doctor(s) performed those remaining 29 autopsies
  • How many autopsies did each doctor perform
  • Total amount paid to each doctor

The document that Patricia Dunn prepared indicated that in 2009 there were 103 autopsies performed by Drs. Galloway, Dobersen and Lear-Kaul.  Is 103 autopsies the total number of autopsies performed in 2009, or were there others?  If there were, I would request:

  • What doctor(s) performed them
  • How many autopsies did each doctor perform
  • Total amount paid to each doctor

I can be reached at 303-346-3256 if there are any questions or clarification needed about my request.  For convenience, documents may be faxed to 303-470-1676.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Sincerely,

Lora L. Thomas

And the response to this letter here:

And Another Response to Thomas’ Questions:

The Response to Thomas’s request:

Now I can ask a bunch of questions and make some observation but I’ll let Lora Thomas, as someone in her position should, ask them. This is an excerpt from an email between her and I.:

1)  The response from the DCCO concerning the number of autopsies performed in 2008 & 2009, and the cost  (This shows 124 autopsies were performed in 2008)

2)  The page from the 2008 DCCO Annual Report that indicated that 153 autopsies were performed in 2008

3)  My June 6 public records request asking about the missing 29 autopsies from 2008.

By state law, public records requests are required to be responded to within 72 hours.  Still waiting for a response.

The DCCO is hiring a forensic pathologist on June 29.  He will be paid $160,000 annually + an additional 30% for a benefits package for a total annual package of $208,000.  Does that seem justified if in 2009 DCCO spent $103,725 on autopsies?

I’ll let you know as soon as I receive an answer to my June 6 request.

On another note, I have discovered that overtime in the DCCO in 2008 was over $44,000 and in 2009 it was $70,000.  There were no homicides in Douglas County in 2009 so why did they need that much $$ for OT?

One Last Thing:

This first amendment is an amazing thing. It’s protects all forms of speech, especially the forms that we can’t stand, that we don’t want to listen to. For me I can’t stand the left wing’s love affair with their own progressive agenda. It is their right to be stupid and ignorant…

Let get to the point by quoting my friend Chris Holbert,

“Yep, stealing political signs, even from public property, is misdemeanor theft in Colorado. If they’re not your signs, don’t touch them. Fair warning: if I catch someone stealing my signs – OR THOSE OF AN OPPONENT – I can, have, do file charges. You see, there’s this thing called the First Amendment of the United States Constitution and I take it SERIOUSLY, for ALL candidates and their supporters.”

I hope this wasn’t from anyone I know.

6 Questions to Ask Before Supporting A Candidate

Can your candidate clearly communicate who they are, what they do, what their values are, what they believe and what they stand for?

If a candidate struggles in articulating their mission and their programs, they will probably struggle in delivering those promises.  If a candidate can’t explain who they are and what they do, and why they should be in their respective office, find one that can. The stakes are too high and too many good candidates exist who know exactly who they are, what they do, and why they are needed.

Can your candidate define their short-term and long-term goals?

Candidates without quantifiable goals have no way to measure success. If they have no way to know if they are successful, how can you be sure they are working toward something? Demand that your candidates tell you what they are trying to do, especially if they’re elected. Good candidates relish this opportunity. They know what they are working toward today and tomorrow.

Can your candidate tell you the progress it has made (or is making) toward its goal?

Once again, it’s not enough to merely be concerned with a problem. Good intentions are no longer sufficient to warrant your voluntary and monetary support. Ask your candidate what they have done to make the issues they are confronting better. What are their results? You wouldn’t buy a brand of toothpaste if the manufacturer couldn’t prove to you that it fought cavities successfully. Why should you support a candidate that claims to be a fiscal conservative that has run a company into bankruptcy?

Does your candidate platforms make sense to you?

If you support the mission of a candidate, ask yourself if their programs also make sense. You believe in the cause, and you hope for the end result, but is the candidate working toward that result in a way that seems rational and productive to you? Take for instance Tom Tancredo’s work to secure the borders, whether you agree with him or not, he’s constantly proving he wants to address the illegal immigration issue. If a candidate”s goal is to promote tax incentives for companies, do they pursue their goal in a way that makes sense to you, or does it merely inflame the issue? Make sure your support is wisely given, don’t support every candidate just because they have the same belief system as you. Just because you support the ends, you may not support the means. If you know you want to support the outcome the candidate aims to deliver, ask yourself if their method of arriving at that outcome makes sense to you. Bottom line is do your homework, study their past.

Can you trust your candidate?

Don’t support a candidate until you feel comfortable with them. A guilty and distrustful giver is a one-time giver. To gain this trust, call the candidate or campaign manger, ask the questions you need answered before you can be assured this is a good use of your time and money. Demand financial transparency, check the secretary of states website for contribution lists, know where their campaign money is coming from. Do whatever it takes to put your mind at ease. Use your rights to gather data so that you will be comfortable. Good candidates will encourage this. A happy and trusting donor is a willing and supportive donor.

Are you willing to make a long-term commitment to your candidate?

I like to think of giving to a candidate as a long-term commitment, more akin to marriage than dating. Intelligent giving is motivated by knowledge, and perspective, not a knee-jerk reaction to a television commercial or an article posted on facebook or even a 140 character blurb on twitter. You are an adult. You have a budget. You have the means to help your candidate whether time or financial. You want to help. Ask yourself if your candidate is the type of person to which you’re willing to make a long-term commitment. In return, the candidate should promise to continue working toward addressing the issue you both think is so vital. Look hard and find a candidate you can support for many years to come. When you find that person, give them your dollars, tell them you’ll be there through thick and thin, and then continue to support them.

NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER UNDER ATTACK

From The National Day Of Prayer Task Force:

NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER UNDER ATTACK

JUDGE RULES STATUTE SETTING NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER UNCONSTITUTIONAL… AMERICANS URGE PRESIDENT OBAMA TO APPEAL

NDPTF

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLORADO (April 15, 2010) – The National Day of Prayer Task Force (NDPTF) and Attorneys with the Alliance Defense Fund (ADF) are urging President Obama to appeal federal judge Barbara Crabb’s decision in Wisconsin that struck down a federal statute that sets a day for the National Day of Prayer.  The order does not affect presidential prayer proclamations and will not go into effect unless the decision still stands after all appeals are exhausted in the case.

Shirley Dobson, Chairman of the National Day of Prayer Task Force and wife of Focus on the Family Founder Dr. James Dobson, said “Since the days of our Founding Fathers, the government has protected and encouraged public prayer and other expressions of dependence on the Almighty.  This is a concerted effort by a small but determined number of people who have tried to prohibit all references to the Creator in the public square, whether it be the Ten Commandments, the Pledge of Allegiance, or the simple act of corporate prayer – this is unconscionable for a free society.”

Joel Oster, ADF senior counsel, echoed these sentiments saying, “It’s important to remember this about the National Day of Prayer:  It’s America’s heritage, and this day belongs to Americans – the court should not have struck down this statute.  ADF urges the Obama administration to appeal this terrible ruling that not only undermines the National Day of Prayer, but the underlying heritage and tradition of the American people which dates back to the nation’s founding.”

“The National Day of Prayer provides an opportunity for all Americans to pray voluntarily according to their own faith,” Oster explained.  “It does not violate the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment, and this decision should be appealed.”

In 1952, President Harry Truman signed into law a joint resolution of Congress to set aside an annual National Day of Prayer.  Congress amended the law in 1988, which was signed by President Ronald Reagan, for the purpose of establishing a more particular date.  The law currently reads, “The President shall issue each year a proclamation designating the first Thursday in May as a National Day of Prayer on which the people of the United States may turn to God in prayer and meditation at churches, in groups, and as individuals.”  The Freedom From Religion Foundation challenged the constitutionality of the statute in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin.

The tradition of designating an official day of prayer actually began with the Continental Congress in 1775, after which President George Washington issued a National Day of Thanksgiving Proclamation.  Ever since, American presidents have made similar proclamations and “appeals to the Almighty.” Historically, all 50 governors, along with U.S. presidents, have issued proclamations in honor of the National Day of Prayer.

The court order does not demand that the 59th National Day of Prayer which occurs May 6th, be cancelled. Citizens desiring more information on the efforts of the NDPTF and ADF to defend the National Day of Prayer can visit www.NationalDayofPrayer.org

About the National Day of Prayer

The National Day of Prayer tradition predates the founding of the United States of America, evidenced by the Continental Congress’ proclamation in 1775 setting aside a day of prayer.  In 1952, Congress established an annual day of prayer and, in 1988, that law was amended, designating the National Day of Prayer as the first Thursday in May.

History of the National Day of Prayer

Summary of what will happen next:

·        The Obama administration will need to decide within 60 days of the issuance of the ruling whether they are going to appeal the decision. It is stayed pending appeal, so the 2010 National Day of Prayer will be unaffected.

·        Long term, this type of opinion, if not corrected on appeal, will continue the erosion of our religious heritage and freedom.  It allows a handful of disgruntled people to use the courts to restrict the genuine constitutional rights enjoyed by the majority of Americans merely because those few people claim to be “offended.”

·        While the National Day of Prayer Task Force will be able to promote a national day of prayer on its own, government acknowledgement of that day is in jeopardy if this opinion is allowed to stand.

·        Other legal avenues might be possible if the administration chooses not to appeal, and the Alliance Defense Fund together with the National Day of Prayer Task Force is looking into all such options, but it’s important right now to encourage the Obama administration to appeal and take a stand against this terrible ruling.  Americans should make it clear that it’s America’s heritage we’re talking about here, and this day belongs to Americans.  There’s no constitutional reason to prohibit official recognition of the National Day of Prayer.

The Move Right takes to the Air Waves… Well kind of

Big Changes Are Coming To TMR

Over the last week or so I’ve been talking with www.CastleRockRadio.com about hosting a talk show of my own. The people at CRR are awesome, I have the opportunity to making the show a daily run program. Castle Rock Radio is Locally Focused, Nationally Relevant, Globally Heard. It’s streamed in more than 100 countries but mostly focused on the Colorado area.

The Show will be to discuss Local, and National events, that will be put through a conservative Christian filter. I am hoping to bring along another voice or maybe even co-host that would have viewpoints diametrically opposed to me. This would provide the other side of the argument time for rebuttal. I will be bringing local, state and national politicians on the air with me. I’ve already reached out to a few local politicians and I’ve received confirmation that they would be glad to come on air with me. (don’t ask for their names, nothing’s set in stone yet.)

It’ll Give the tea parties a local voice also.

The timing of the shows arrival is perfect with the local and state elections taking place, I would be able to provide a format for debate between the primary candidates. This would allow for some politicians to get their message out to an audience that wouldn’t normally hear their voice. With a National audience Castle Rock Radio, this would be a perfect forum for local politicians to announce candidacy, big projects or general press releases.

In order to get my show on the air I have to pay hourly studio fees, this would have to come out of my pocket. I do, however, get to sell advertisements and I set the pricing for the time that I give to a sponsor of the show. The time slot for the show is perfect, I’m looking at broadcasting 2p-3p on Wednesdays, with the hopes of going to the whole week with 2-3 hours each day behind the microphone. In order for that to work I have to come up with some good sponsorships. This is during their peak broadcast times. It would give my sponsors the chance to put their company in front of thousands of people.

Currently I’m planning on several levels of advertising, top tier is you get 1 minute of air time on the air or 2 30 second spots. (if you want more you can buy more time.) This tier will include prime ad space on my website as well. I will also submit one blog post about your company or products your trying to promote.

The Second Tier is 1 minute of ad time on the air. And 1 blog post on themoveright.com.

The Third Tier is 1 munite of as time on the air.

Other Sponsorship opportunities will be, banners on the new www.themoveright.com that will be coming out in a month or so.

All comercals are professionally produced, they can be done with a male or female voice. Or I can read your ad live on air (for a small added fee).

If you’re interested in sponsoring the show, send me an email.

“If destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher,” Abraham Lincoln said in 1838. “As a nation of freemen, we must live through all time, or die by suicide.”

Our country is, by any measure, the greatest nation on the face of the earth. How is it, then, that we find ourselves at this hour on a course of self-destruction? As America’s principles and values have been under tremendous assault, and as those principles and values have been undermined and redefined in our institutions – our politics, our culture, and our educational institutions – we have lost much ground. But we have great hope, and so we take our stand once again with our fellow man to make a united statement for life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

Never has there been a more important time to gather as American patriots to defend the rights and liberties our forefathers fought and died for.

We are at a critical crossroads.

Stand with us to establish in the hearts and minds of our fellow citizens the founding principles and values of our great country, captured within our amazing documents: The Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United States. Join us on the West-facing steps of the Colorado State Capitol Building in downtown Denver on April 15th.

New Conservative Standards in Textbooks

The conservative members maintain that they are trying to correct what they see as a liberal bias among the teachers who proposed the curriculum. To that end, they made dozens of minor changes aimed at calling into question, among other things, concepts like the separation of church and state and the secular nature of the American Revolution.

“I reject the notion by the left of a constitutional separation of church and state,” saidDavid Bradley, a conservative from Beaumont who works in real estate. “I have $1,000 for the charity of your choice if you can find it in the Constitution.”

The board majority’s conservative approach to “culture, government and the changing political landscape” was impossible 13 years ago when the social studies curriculum last was updated, said David Bradley, R-Beaumont.

Cybersecurity bill, your freedoms shrink and the Gov’t gets bigger

This Cyber Bill is one of the scariest things that’s been thought up. Once you have this passed, combine it with The Patriot Act, FDA, EPA and HLS you’ll have nowhere to hid from the federal government. There will be no form of privacy. And my thoughts, and you’ll see this once you read the article from Tony Romm at The Hill, the words “Give” “Obama” “More” and “Power”, should never be in the same sentence.

For the sake of being fair, this power should not be given to anyone, not a extreme conservative all the way though the Nolan Chart to the extreme statist. I hate that Bush secured so much overreaching power with the Patriot Act, much of it unconstitutional. This bill, I fear, is yet another attempt for more power of our everyday lives.

I do also fear what China, Russia, Iran and others, but do we give up more freedoms for possible attacks on our infrastructure? I want to see a solution that will keep the bad guys out, and for the Government to leave it’s citizens alone.

The president would have the power to safeguard essential federal and private Web resources under draft Senate cybersecurity legislation.

According to an aide familiar with the proposal, the bill includes a mandate for federal agencies to prepare emergency response plans in the event of a massive, nationwide cyberattack.

The president would then have the ability to initiate those network contingency plans to ensure key federal or private services did not go offline during a cyberattack of unprecedented scope, the aide said.
